【华e生活Hera Fu & Teddy Tang报道】北卡教堂山唯一的中文沉浸式磁校格林伍德小学（Glenwood），2月21日张灯结彩庆祝元宵节，校长Bennett先生和副校长Solano先生特地穿着上面有中国龙图案的中式服装，与教师、学生和家长一起“闹”起来。
策划这次庆祝活动的公立小学老师孙艺，让这所公立小学在当天下午课程结束后，置身一个小型的庙会。师生和家长们不仅欣赏了丰富多彩的“中国风”文艺节目，感受到浓郁的中国气氛，还尝到了过年才有的特色美食。
孙艺精心设计的照相亭，是这次活动的打卡点。这里留下了几乎所有人的笑脸。这是校长Bennett、副校长Solano和孙老师的小组合。
孙艺说：“校长非常支持举办这次庆祝活动，作为中文老师我们义不容辞承担起责任。虽然我是五年级毕业班老师，教学任务真的很忙，但是我的学生家长非常给力，他们都特别地支持我来干这件事情，为我分担了许多工作。”
文艺节目在学校的礼堂兼球场举行。
活动还安排了中国工艺品展示、中式游戏、冰糖葫芦和龙年标志的T恤衫。
成都七号还有Wayne家为这次庆祝活动提供了一大箱自制的酥饼。来自杜克大学的学生志愿者每一个人都尝到了酥饼。
格林伍德小学每年都会举办各种庆祝活动，比如文化之夜，五年级毕业典礼，和农历新年庆祝活动。这次元宵节庆祝活动格外盛大特别成功。好吃的中国的美食、精彩的游戏和各种节目表演，无一不给人留下极为深刻的印象。孙艺老师的心愿无疑是实现了，愿世界各族认识和欣赏我们源远流长的中华民族文化，这是我们华人共同的心愿。感谢孙艺老师付出。
In my old Elementary school Glenwood, I had the biggest celebration that Glenwood has ever held. I started in second grade at this school, where we used to have a French class. Now Glenwood is all focused on Mandarin as their only second language because this school honors Mandarin. Both Principal Mr. Bennett and Vice Principal Mr. Solano asked 5th-grade teacher Mrs. Sun Yi at separate times to buy them a traditional Chinese costume for a Chinese Lunar New Year celebration, which was a bigger celebration than any before. They were both wearing the same clothing, both having majestic dragons on them. Because of the time, everyone had to buy traditional Chinese clothing from Amazon instead of from Chinese shops. Mr. Bennett was wearing black, and Mr. Solano was wearing red. Teacher Sun Yi is the planner of this Celebration.
This was the biggest celebration in the history of Glenwood because we had a lot of fun activities to do, including a Photo Booth, Traditional Chinese Games, Craft, Traditional Chinese Food Tasting, Games, Dragon Year t-shirts, and Candied Haws. We also ate some Chinese food and mooncakes, one for every one sent from Global Mart.
Teacher Sun Yi hosted a performance of the viral Ke Mu San dance from China. Another class also did a congratulations (Gong Xi Ni) performance, sung by a whole class of people, so did all of the other classes was too hard for the principals to completely bring up a good celebration themselves, so they gave the teachers the responsibility to help support the Celebration, Mrs. Sun Yi wanted to help, as did many other parents.
That was the biggest celebration for the Lunar New Year that my old elementary school Glenwood ever had. It had delicious food, great games, wonderful performances, and other fun activities. Glenwood is a great school. Every year it will have celebrations, such as the Culture Night, Graduation from Elementary for the Fifth Graders, and the Lunar New Year Celebration.
